Cessation - Sixth Review
On 29 January 2013, Parliament amended the legislation governing our Sixth Review of UK Parliament Constituencies. That legislation received Royal Assent on 31 January and was commenced on 23 April 2013. As a result, we stopped work on the Review and will not be completing it. We would like to thank all those who have participated in the Review.
The revised legislation requires us to undertake our next review of UK Parliament constituencies using the electoral register from 1 December 2015, and to submit our report on that review during September 2018.
The legislation governing our reviews of UK Parliament constituencies is the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986. The amendments to the legislation which resulted in the cessation of the Sixth Review are contained in section 6 of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013. The current text of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, incorporating those amendments, is available on the Legislation page of our website. The text of the legislation as it applied at the start of the Sixth Review is available on the Resources section of this website.
After the cessation of the review, we conducted a survey of participants in our Sixth Review of UK Parliament Constituencies between 20 March and 12 April 2013. The purpose of the questionnaire is to help inform the conduct of future reviews. The survey questionnaire took no longer than a few minutes to complete and responses are anonymous.
You could complete the questionnaire:
If using the downloadable questionnaire, you could return it to us by post or by email by 12 April 2013. We were happy to send you a paper copy of the questionnaire if asked. We will publish the results of the survey on the website later in 2013.
