UK Parliament constituencies 1983 - 1997
These are the 72 UK Parliament constituencies in Scotland that were in use between 1983 and 1997. They came into being as a result of our Third Periodical Report which was submitted in 1983. They were replaced by UK Parliament constituencies from 1997 to 2005 which resulted from our Fourth Periodical Review of constituencies which reported to the Secretary of State for Scotland in 1997.
We conducted an interim review in 1986 which resulted in changes to some of these constituencies from 1987. We conducted an interim review in 1988 and an interim review in 1990 which resulted in changes to some of these constituencies from 1992.
